Josh and Jill

This weekend we travelled up to Duluth for Josh and Jill’s wedding. They are an awesome couple and we were so lucky to be part of their day. The morning started out with snow, but everything cleared up by the time we went down to Leif Erickson park where we photographed Jill, Josh, the wedding party, and their parents. It was SO cold!! Everyone did a superb job braving the cold, though, and even managed to look warm in the photos. The ceremony was awesome, the reception was georgeous… it was so much fun.

Josh and Jill, thank you so much for including us in your beautiful day!

Attention 2010 Seniors!

It’s springtime, which means green grass, warm breezes and… Senior pictures!

We’re looking for high school juniors (graduating in 2010) to apply for our senior ambassador program. Basically, we’re looking for students who will be a model and a voice for our studio. You’d be a GREAT candidate for the senior ambassador program if you have an outgoing personality and are active in school activities such as sports, drama, band, clubs or other extracurricular activities. Even if you’re not involved in any of these but you feel like you have what it takes, drop me an email at photo@ctryan.com and let me know! We’ll only be accepting 2-3 seniors per school, so apply QUICKLY!

WHO:

Twin Cities metro high school students, graduating in 2010 are eligible.  Email Tamrah at photo@ctryan.com and I’ll send you a short application.

Janette

WHAT:

Senior ambassadors will receive a free, specialized senior session with unlimited locations and clothing changes. You’ll get a lot of great stuff! We aren’t into the “stand here stiffly and smile” kinds of photos… Feel free to bring props that show your personality: a cool hat, your guitar, sports equipment, a favorite prom dress, even your awesome car. We want your shoot to scream YOU! It’s all about you and your friends getting the best possible senior pictures!

WHERE:

Basically, anywhere in the twin cities is fair game  (we shoot everything on-location). I have a lot of great ideas if you need some inspiration, but it’s really up to you… a junkyard with some really awesome old cars, a colorful building, a baseball diamond, the Stone Arch bridge, downtown Minneapolis… anywhere!

WHEN:

We would like to start shooting Senior Ambassador sessions as soon as the weather cooperates!

Beatriz

WHY:

We want you to believe in your photos and then pass the info on to your friends! You are our best advertisement. We want to get our name out there, and this is our way to thank you for helping us do that.

This is what you’ll receive:

–          A fun, free specialized portrait session ($175 value)

–          A set of pictures to post on your Facebook and Myspace pages

–          A free, custom designed, hardcover senior album ($200 value)

–          Free rep cards, personalized with  your best photos

–          You’ll also get 5% off your prints for each referral, up to 75% off

ALSO,

For each referral who books with us, you will receive $20 cash.

On top of that, the ambassador who has the most booking referrals will receive a Nintendo Wii OR an all day photo shoot with up to 10 of their friends, with unlimited locations. The all-day shoot for the winner will include:

–          A group fashion shoot to celebrate your friendships
OR a specialized shoot that focuses on your interests.
–          A $30 print credit for each friend so they can order prints from the shoot
–          A 12 month calendar for each person with photos from your session
–          Images for posting on Facebook and Myspace

HOW:

First, if you think you’ve got what it takes, send me an email at photo@ctryan.com. I’ll send you an application. Fill it out and get it back to me ASAP.

Here are some tips for the most successful ambassadors:

–          Bring your book everywhere and show it to everyone. If someone seems interested in booking, give them a referral card. Show your business cards every time you show your album.

–          Myspace, Facebook and email your friends. Let your friends and classmates know what you’re doing! The most successful ambassadors will have made contact with their classmates through email or mail.

–          Look to your friends and family to help you earn your portraits. Referrals can be for families, babies, children, seniors, maternity, engagement, weddings, modeling, or even pet photography. Every referral that books a session counts!

HopeKids

I recently had a chance to photograph some kids involved in the HopeKids organization. HopeKids is an amazing nonprofit that provides events & activities for children with cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions.  These kids had a chance to go to a Minnesota Wild game, watch from Marian Gaborik’s private suite, and meet the NHL referees who were officiating the game before the teams hit the ice.

That was definitely the coolest part for me. These ref’s who were about to spend their evening breaking up fights and being cursed at by thousands were some of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. They were amazing with the kids, and were genuinely excited and honored to hang out with them for a few minutes before the game.

Trent Tucker

I was such a huge Chicago Bulls fan as a kid, and I remember being so excited watching them “three-peat” when they won the 1993 NBA Championship. Today I got to meet and shoot some portraits of their shooting guard, Trent Tucker for the NY Daily News. It was very cool to meet him, and the work he’s doing with the Trent Tucker Non-Profit Organization is fantastic. http://www.trenttucker.org

Trent was a standout player with the University of Minnesota from 1978 to 1982, leading them to a Big Ten Conference championship in his senior year, so these shots were taken at Williams Arena where he used to play.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge

We had the opportunity to photograph a bunch of brave people jumping into frigid waters for the Special Olympics South Metro Polar Plunge. It looked like they were having a lot of fun but I don’t think you’ll catch me doing it any time soon. 🙂 Although, the hot tub at the end seemed pretty nice. This was a great way to be part of the action, without having to actually jump in!

Great photos — crazy but great & generous people! I agree with you, the cold stuff wouldn’t sit well with me, but the hot tub sounds pretty nice!
